Why crates work
Puppies instinctively avoid soiling their sleeping area. A correctly sized crate uses that instinct to extend hold time by 30–50%.
Size matters
Just big enough to stand, turn, and lie down. Bigger = puppy designates one corner as a bathroom. Use a divider that grows with them.
The crate-to-door pipeline
Out of crate → straight outside, no detours, no play. Reward the moment they finish — outside, not back indoors.
Key takeaways
- ★Crate size enforces bladder control
- ★Crate → outside, no interim play
- ★Reward outdoors immediately
