Where the crate goes

First 2–4 weeks: crate next to your bed. You hear them stir before they need to go, and they aren't isolated their first nights away from littermates.

The midnight outing

Carry — don't walk — to the yard. No talking, no play, dim light. Back in the crate immediately. This is a bathroom break, not a party.

Stretching the night

Once you go 5 nights without an accident, push wake-up later by 30 minutes. Repeat until you're at your real morning.

Key takeaways

  • Crate beside the bed for week 1+
  • Boring middle-of-the-night outings
  • Extend in 30-minute steps
