What 'critical' means
Between 3 and 16 weeks, the puppy's brain is uniquely primed to categorize the world as safe or scary. After 16 weeks, the default switches to 'new = suspicious.'
The math problem
You bring most puppies home at 8 weeks. That leaves 8 weeks to expose them to everything they'll ever encounter. The schedule is tight.
It cannot be redone
